The conference has been held for 8 consecutive years on the Islands of Kos, of Kefalonia and of Cyprus.
This is the second year in a row that the Conference is taking place on the Island of Rhodes.
The course is directed at all professionals involved in the medical disaster management and humanitarian health response at local, national and international level. It is accomplished with the involvement of academics, scientific and professional associations and experienced field workers as well as civil protection agencies.
The scope of the conference is to train not only our post graduate students but also officials from civil protection agencies, medical and nursing staff and humanitarian organization representatives in the management of the medical effects of disaster so as to acquire the necessary specific knowledge, the ability to plan and organize a healthcare system, adapted to a disaster situation and the professional skills to provide medical care of high quality in an austere environment.
Our vision is to advance learners' critical thinking and problem solving ability through a series of simulation exercises - drills in real life settings.
It is an Internationally Accredited Course. Successful completion is granted with EACCME® and ECTS®, as well as with a diploma provided by the Medical School of the University of Athens, the School of Geology and Geoenvironment of the University of Athens and the Emergency Medicine Department, University of Bern, Switzerland.
